Just a few things...

Here are just some random things...

  • Jake turned 5 months old on Saturday!
  • I have re-awakened my love for video games...Chad said the other day "why don't you play zelda and I'll hold Jake." I jumped on the chance and I had a blast!
  • Jake is a real boy! He loves his "exersaucer" and his favorite thing is to bang one of his plastic toys on everything. He also loves to hit anything. He has a soft cloth book that makes crinkle noises and if he were strong enough I'm convinced he would rip it to shreds. I can see him now building tall block towers just to knock them over and watch the destruction!
  • We fed Jake peaches for the first time and he absolutely loves them.
  • I am trying to make homemade baby food and the peaches worked out great...thanks to the Magic Bullet!
  • Morgan has had 2 baths in the past week. Once because she ran through the woods and in the creek...came back covered in mud. And again because she ran into the woods...came back covered in poop!
  • Jake has decided that he likes to hear himself screech, squeal, scream, and make any noise he can.
  • Jake loves my cell phone and if it wasn't a solid phone, he would have broken it by now!
  • We are waiting on the edge of our seats for Jake's first tooth to break through...he's not enjoying it.
  • We thought we were going to have a hard time breaking Jake of being rocked to sleep, but he has broken himself of it. He just doesn't like it anymore and would rather be laid down. He sometimes cries for a few minutes, but soon falls asleep.
  • I am almost 27. April 8th is the big day. 1 year closer to 30...wow.
  • Jake is almost sitting up by himself...he can for very short periods of time.
I think that's all for now! I'd love to hear about how your lives are going so leave a comment or email if you know my address!

The past few weeks!

Nana (Chad's mom) and Aunt Angie (Chad's sister) were here to visit for a week. We had a great time together! It was so fun for Jake to get to know them more and vice versa. Here are some pictures from that week. We went on walks and played and hung out together it was very relaxing!

Right after Nana and Aunt Angie left, my mom, Jake, and I left for a trip to Pittsburgh, PA and then over to Ohio and back home. It was a lot of driving, but worth it. Jake met his Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Grubbs. He met his Great Uncle Jon, my cousins Josh and Jeremy. And saw Great Aunt Patty and my cousin Beth again. We went over to Ohio and he met his Great Great Aunt Joyce. Here are some pictures from the trip.

We also met Levi, a very important little boy! Levi was basically adopted into our family by Aunt Patty and Uncle Jon. He's not actually adopted, but he spends a lot time with them and we all think of him as part of our family. I wish I had gotten a picture of him with Jake, but Levi was too busy being an active boy to be in a picture!

We made it!

Well, Chad's mom and sister are back at their homes. And my mom, Jake, and I have made it to Gibsonia, PA. We are staying at my Aunt Patty and Uncle Jon's house, my cousin Jeremy is here too. Tomorrow we will be seeing my grandparents and my other cousins, Beth and Josh. It will be exciting to see the grandparents see their only great grandkid for the first time.

Pray for Jake. He is either just teething or teething and having tummy issues. He's eating the rice cereal, but it's causing tummy problems. If any moms out there have any hints on transistioning to rice cereal let me know! WE might take a break for a day or two from it and let his little digestive system work things out a bit!

Well, traveling with a baby it hard...but it's good to see family. I miss Chad a lot!

So much fun!

It's been a while since I've blogged, sorry! I need to get better at it.

Feb. 27th to March 2nd, Frank (my brother) came to visit. He hadn't seen Jake since Christmas so he was surprised at all the changes. Not only is Jake around 17lbs and 25in long...he's reacting to people and sounds, smiling, making noises, blowing drool bubbles, grabbing things, and actually playing. There's a lot less crying too! Not to mention the sleep is a lot better. We had a great weekend with Frank. We went to see Coraline, played games, made oatmeal cookies, and hung out.

It snowed a lot, for Charlotte, NC, on Sunday (March 1st) night and it was a beautiful white wonderland on Monday. Here's a picture of the view out our upstairs playroom window. Monday night was the first time Jake tried rice cereal (he's starting to get the hang of it now!). I will post a video soon.

This past weekend Chad's mom (Nana to Jake) and his sister, Angie, came and are here for a week! They haven't seen Jake since Thanksgiving...a HUGE difference from 1 month old to 4 months old! We are having a ton of fun. It's nice to get some stuff done and not have to worry about Jake...because he's with Nana and Aunt Angie!

Stayed tuned for pictures...

Winners of the Caption Contest!

There are 3 winners...1 for the first picture and a tie for the second picture. These are all very close friends to me and my family!

For the first picture...KRISTEN! Here is the Picture and the Caption.
"If I had a purple crayon, I'd create my OWN world up in here!"

Why she won... well here's a picture of Harold from the book "Harold and the Purple Crayon"... notice the resemblance of Harold and Jacob above! I seriously to get this book...I love it and Jacob looks just like Harold! It's so funny!

A little about Kristen... I've known Kristen for something like 12 years (maybe 11). She is like a sister to me. She has been a steady friend. I miss her, but I'm glad that I'm only 4 hours from her now! She has cleaned my teeth...she's a dental hygienist. She is a true woman of God and has unwavering faith it's inspiring. Our favorite thing to do together other than talk is anything that requires creativity...recently it's been make earrings. I think Kristen is great and am extremely thankful and blessed to have her as a friend.

For the second picture is a tie...I just couldn't decide... RYAN and TRAVIS.

Here is the picture and their captions...
Ryan- "Somebody shaved my head while I was sleeping!"
Travis- "Awwww, crap... I think my diapers need a bailout..."

Ryan and Travis won simply because We thought these captions were very funny.

A little about Ryan: We met him in college. He was a freshman on Chad's floor our Junior year . Later, he ended living in our yellow house in Newberg. Actually, he was our first housemate (we rented out/opened up our extra rooms to friends). We did a lot with Ryan while he lived with us...went to Costco a lot, went to the zoo, went to an Ansel Adams exhibit. He then moved to South Korea to teach English. He is still there teaching and loving it. He takes amazing pictures of his travels. We webcam with him when we can and miss him a ton. He is our photographing, motorcycle riding friend.

A little about Travis: We met Travis the same way in the same place as Ryan. He also ended up living with us in the yellow house in Newberg. He lived with us longer than Ryan. We played an amazing amount of games with him and his girlfriend (now she's his wife). I was in his wedding and Chad did the video for the wedding. They are now in Colorado and are going to grad school. He is a SuperChemist! He and his wife are very close friends of ours and we seriously miss them! We have fond memories of games and candy with them...particularly AirHeads. We wish we lived closer and can't wait to have them visit. He is our white and nerdy friend! haha!

There were so many great captions. All of them were creative. Thank you so much for the captions maybe we will have new pictures and have another contest!
